Athletic Resume

Adventure Racing:

• My team successfully completed the 2000 Eco Challenge in Borneo, 30th place
• I have completed several triathlons and adventure races. For example, my team finished in the Top 10% in the Hi Tec Adventure Race in Pittsburgh. I've also competed in the XTERRA (Richmond, VA) and my team was in 6th place at the end of the 2000 Mega Dose (a four day adventure race in which only one team finished the race in the allotted amount of time)

• I have run over 100 road races including the Cherry Blossom 10 miler, Garden of the Gods 15K, Marine Corps Marathon, Music City Marathon, Pikes Peak Ascent, and dozens of 5 and 10 km races. I usually finish in the top 20% for women.
• I have run several ultra runs including the Colorado Trail 50K and the JFK 50 miler. I am a member of the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club and do lots of trail running.

• I am an avid trekker. I have gone on extended backpacking trips in Kashmir, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Thailand, Kenya and Nepal. Additionally, I have also gone on multi-day backpacking trips in Smokey Mountain, Denali, Teton, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Rocky Mountain National Parks as well as along various sections of the Appalachian Trail.

• I am an avid bicyclist. My husband and I spent three weeks mountain biking around Kenya for our honeymoon. I have also completed the Ride of the Rockies (a 450 mile, mountainous bike tour) and have biked the length of the C&O Canal (200 miles).
• I have successfully competed in the 24 Hours of Canaan mountain bike race (1998, 1999); the 24 Hours of Snowshoe mountain bike race (2000, 2001); the Wild 100 km Backcountry Mountain Bike Race and the Air Force Academy Challenge. I usually finish in the top 30% overall (male and female).

• I am an experienced white water kayaker who is comfortable in Class I - IV water. I have kayaked on the Ocoee, Pigeon, Potomac, Shenandoah and Youghiogheny Rivers (all of which have Class I - IV rapids).
• I have gone white water rafting on the New, Gauley and Ocoee Rivers.
• I have gone white water canoeing on the New River.
• I have gone on a multi-day sea kayaking trip in Alaska (Kenai Fjords Nat'l Park); a multi-day canoeing trip (Sewanee River, Florida) and a multi-day white water rafting trip (Trisuli River, Nepal)

• I am comfortable and proficient on 5.8 and below climbs. I have experience rock climbing in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, CO, Seneca Rocks, WV and Great Falls, VA.
• I am also a proficient ice climber and have climbed in both the Catskills and White Mountains.
• I did a winter ascent of Mount Washington, NH in January 2001.

• I am a former hike leader and land navigation instructor for the Sierra Club (Metro Washington Outings Club).
• I founded and lead Booz-Allen's corporate Adventure Club. We have over 300 members who routinely get together to mt bike, ski, rock & ice climb, adventure race, kayak, raft, camp, and SCUBA dive.
• I am a certified SCUBA Diver (Advanced Open Water).
• I have earned my military parachute jump wings.
• I have successfully completed the Air Force's Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) and Commando Warrior Training Courses.
